ZAMBIA’s pro-Israel position at the International Court of Justice on Monday drew heavy criticism from political analysts within the country and across the region. Through Solicitor General Marshal Muchende, Zambia made its submissions at the ICJ on the continued conflict between Israel and Palestine, calling for a solution that recognises the security needs of the Israeli people. He told the ICJ that the court is neither the only dispute resolution mechanism available nor is it the best in all circumstances, as it has the potential of ruining relationships between neighbours in the process of determining the winner in a conflict.
