GREEN Economy and Environment Minister Collins Nzovu has directed the Director of Forestry to discipline the officers who are still issuing permits for charcoal production despite the ban being in effect. And Nzovu has insisted that Zambians should use gas for cooking instead of charcoal, stating that it is cheaper now, as long as it is used effectively. Last month, Nzovu directed the Director Forestry to immediately stop the issuance of Cord Wood Permits for charcoal production in Itezhi-Tezhi, Mumbwa and Shibuyunji Districts.
