MINISTRY of Energy Permanent Secretary Peter Mumba says government has not sat down to discuss the reversal of the Zesco tariffs which were recently increased. Recently, the Energy Regulation Board had approved Zesco’s request to increase electricity tariffs by 10 percent, a day after it had increased the price of petrol by K4.4, diesel by 0.8 Ngwee, kerosene by K7.95 and Jet A-1 by K3.30 for the month of May, 2024. Energy Minister Peter Kapala then fired ERB board chairperson Reynolds Bowa after the board gave him a vote of no confidence for allegedly “making unilateral decisions”.
