HOUSE of Chiefs Chairperson Chief Choongo says traditional leaders are grateful to President Hakainde Hichilema for the increased subsidy and wish him all the best in this election year. The traditional leader has noted that while civil servants’ salaries are revised regularly, chiefs’ subsidies remained stagnant, making the increase necessary. Government has increased salaries for chiefs and retainers following President Hichilema’s directive at the Kulamba Traditional Ceremony in August 2025. The Paramount Chiefs’ wages have been increased to K18,000.00 from K13,000.00, while those of Senior Chiefs have been adjusted to K16,500.00 from K11,500.00.
