THE rhetoric of “no sacred cows” is rubbish when there aren’t any cows except those who are deemed to be disloyal, charges outgoing US Ambassador Michael Gonzales. Ambassador Gonzales, who has condemned what he terms as institutionalised and refined corruption in Zambia, has further expressed concern over the appointment of Daphne Chabu as ACC Director General, despite allegedly being under investigation for corruption. He further says some senior officials had informed him of a 500-page expert report warning of severe health risks, including birth defects, cancers and other diseases, linked to the Sino Metals pollution incident.
