VICE-President Mutale Nalumango says citizens must pay attention to campaign promises, warning that even a man proposing love may say sweet things while lying.
She adds that the PF, which she says has regrouped under Brian Mundubile’s party with a different name, is responsible for the murder of a UPND supporter in Kaputa District.
Responding to a caller from Kabwata Constituency who praised the ruling party’s work during a live special interview on Komboni Radio, Thursday, Vice-President Mutale Nalumango warned that some leaders “want to come back and distribute all the money in the reserve”.
“At local level under CDF, so much is going on, children are being taken to school. Please people of God, they say leadership does not choose who to support, what does that mean? They want to come back and distribute all the money in the reserve? Can money that’s in the reserve sustain a country? Once you get all the money from the reserves, then it means you’re finished as a country. Please let’s make sure we pay attention to some campaign promises so that you’re able to tell that these are lies we are being told. Because a liar says good things all the time. Even when a man wants to propose love to a woman, he says the sweetest things such that if a woman is not clever enough, they’ll even tell her that I’ll buy you a car, meanwhile he walks on foot when coming to see you. What is that? Our friends, the Brian Mundubile party have a history, so do we want that history of reversing all the development we have done?” Vice-President Nalumango said.
“[We go back to]the history of borrowing such that we get embarrassed as a country? We even reach a point where they stop working? Zambians remember that they stopped working on infrastructure projects that were below 80 percent done, those projects were stalled. Where do you think that came from? They were told that there was no money, have you forgotten? We found terrible cadrism where we used to be insulted, people suffered but now to the marketeers who went through that, you want to go back to using a lamp? From the same ones who used to insult you? Yes, somethings are still tough but we should be able to look back and see where we are coming from. They are repeating the things they said [like] more money in your pockets after they deceived you, things got bad and you were being beaten all the time. They stole money through terrible procurements, but now Hakainde Hichilema has managed to restructure the debt”.
The Vice President questioned citizens’ trust in leaders who previously promised “more money in your pockets” but instead delivered hardship.
“Why would a person trust one who lied about more money in your pockets, but instead offered you hand fists? Who said more money in your pockets is only benefitting? Why would you listen to such? These people you are seeing are regrouped PF, let us not be deceived. They have just regrouped under a different name; violence is their identity. As I’m speaking to you right now, Kaputa is burying a 25-year-old youth who was killed by the PF, what if we also said let’s unleash the cadres, won’t Kaputa district be in bloodshed? Are those the same people you want to bring back? They have come with violence under Mundubile’s party, please Zambians don’t be lied to by a person coming with a lamp. A lamp is only used in the dark, do they want to bring darkness? Zambia is already bright, things are moving; haven’t you heard that the inflation has reduced? This means prices won’t just be going up anyhow. Please Zambians, let us choose Hakainde Hichilema who is already leading us, let us not disturb him,” said Vice-President Nalumango.
