“Chingola Municipal Council has officially commenced the allocation of trading stands at the newly completed Town Centre Market Shelter, marking another milestone in the Council’s efforts to improve trading infrastructure and create a conducive business environment for traders. The first phase of the allocation exercise has seen 166 traders allocated trading spaces in the modern market shelter, which is now operational. The allocation process is expected to continue until all the trading spaces have been allocated to their respective owners,” the council stated.
The council stated that the market shelter was constructed using Locally Generated Funds (LGF) under the council’s 2025 Capital Projects allocation.
“Constructed using Locally Generated Funds (LGF) under the 2025 allocation for Capital Projects, the Town Centre Market Shelter reflects the Council’s commitment to reinvesting locally collected revenue into projects that directly benefit residents and support economic growth. The facility has been developed to provide traders with a safe, organised and hygienic trading environment while enhancing service delivery within the central business district,” read the statement.
“The commencement of trading in the new market is expected to improve business operations for the traders, promote orderly trading and contribute to a cleaner and more attractive urban environment. Chingola Municipal Council remains committed to investing in infrastructure that improves livelihoods and promotes sustainable socio-economic development”.
