NRPUP presidential candidate Brian Mundubile says he and his running mate, Makebi Zulu, often pray in tongues while campaigning, even when they are standing on top of their campaign vehicle.

Speaking when he addressed members of the Tabernacle of David Assembly in Lusaka, Sunday, Mundubile said he and Zulu had dedicated their campaign to God shortly after their nomination, as they believed their political journey was a result of divine intervention.

“I’m happy to be here this morning. Church, as some of you may remember, I think it was sometime in May, soon after the nomination, we actually dedicated our campaigns to the Lord. The vice president (Makebi Zulu) and I, as you heard from Bishop, are actually very prayerful. What actually brings us together is not necessarily politics, it’s the love for the Lord. Bishop, one thing that people may not know, sometimes when we are on the top of the car, through the sunroof and campaigning, we are actually speaking in tongues, the two of us on those parts. Many people don’t know that so, some of the things that happen there when you are seeing us doing that, him and I are actually praying in tongues, thanking God for his greatness,” he said.

”We believe what has happened to us is actually a divine intervention. It’s not necessarily about NRPUP or about Brian Mundubile and Makebi. It’s just God’s work. And we take time to appreciate the Lord, even as we are campaigning. I just thought I could mention this to the Church. So Bishop, thank you very much for this opportunity that you’ve given to me and the delegation, to just say hello to the Church. It’s indeed a great honor. We rarely find time, you know, to be with brethren in this fashion. So whenever we do, we take time off just to be in the Lord, in the presence of the Lord, because that’s where we find a little joy. So Bishop, and your dear wife, it’s indeed a great honor that you gave us this opportunity”.

Mundubile added that once elected, he would complete the House of Prayer and bring back the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

“And as David Livingstone prophesied some years back, it will not only be for this nation, but for the entire continent. And Bishop, you’ve been interested to know that we had occasion to stop over at Chitambo where we made our Chitambo Declaration to reaffirm the continuance of Zambia as a Christian nation. We further made an undertaking to complete the House of Prayer. That is halfway. Bishop, further we will bring back the Ministry of Religious Affairs and National Guidance because we believe this will help to continue and perpetuate Zambia’s status as a Christian nation. We equally want to thank you, Christians, for standing in the gap. We know that a lot of things are happening out there, especially in the spirit. Ours is not a physical fight, but also a spiritual fight,” said Mundubile.

“We have made a pledge, an undertaking, that our leadership will be a leadership that will please God because we are called to be the light of the world. It’s something that vice president and I whisper to each other each time we are together. We believe God has put us in this position for a reason. And indeed, we would like to please him through our leadership. We would like to call upon every Christian to shine so that their lives may be a tool for winning souls. So we all have a responsibility. I would like to enjoin every Christian to shine so that their lives may be a tool for winning souls. So Christians today, ours goes beyond politics. Ours indeed goes beyond politics. We are looking at bringing light on this nation”.
