POLICE have apprehended seven male suspects in connection with the murder of Chaminuka Resort Chief Executive Officer Stelios Sardinis.

Sardinis, 64, was murdered at his residence at Chaminuka Lodge in Chisamba District on August 9, 2026, between 01:00 and 01:15 hours.

In a statement issued, Wednesday, Police Public Relations Officer Godfrey Chilabi said four suspects were apprehended earlier, while three others were arrested in Lusaka on Tuesday.

Chilabi said investigations are continuing to establish the circumstances surrounding the murder and aggravated robbery, as well as the role played by each suspect.

“The Zambia Police Service wishes to update the public on investigations into the murder of Mr. Stelios Sardinis, aged 64, Chief Executive Officer of Chaminuka Resort. The incident occurred on August 9, 2026, between 01:00 and 01:15 hours at Chaminuka Lodge in Chisamba District. Following investigations, the Zambia Police Service has so far apprehended seven male suspects in connection with the murder and aggravated robbery. All seven suspects are residents of Lusaka. Four suspects were apprehended earlier, while three others were apprehended on August 11, 2026, in Lusaka. The suspects are currently in police custody. Investigations are continuing to establish the circumstances surrounding the murder and aggravated robbery, as well as the role of each suspect,” he stated.

The police have also cautioned members of the public against attributing political motives to the matter without verified information.

“The Zambia Police Service cautions members of the public against attributing political motives to the matter without verified information. This is a serious criminal investigation involving the loss of life and must be allowed to proceed professionally. Members of the public are urged to refrain from spreading rumours or unverified information, particularly on social media, as this may affect the investigation and cause further emotional distress to the family of the deceased. Further updates will be provided as investigations progress,” stated Chilabi.
