NRPUP president Ezra Tembo says the party has accepted the outcome of the 2026 presidential election, pledging to offer checks and balances to President Hakainde Hichilema’s UPND government. Three months ago, Brian Mundubile, who belongs to the former ruling Patriotic Front, was announced as NRPUP’s presidential candidate for the just-ended general election, while his running mate, Makebi Zulu, also from PF, joined the Resolute Party. President-elect Hakainde Hichilema has secured a second term in office after defeating his closest rival, Mundubile, with 2,965,326 votes against Mundubile’s 1,856,217.
