MATERO Constituency Resolute Party (RP) losing candidate Patrick Salubusa says he will not petition the 2026 Parliamentary election results, stating that he has chosen to leave everything in God’s hands. Recently, Salubusa said his decision to petition Alexander Sakala’s victory would depend on the wishes of the people. Sakala, of the UPND, was declared winner of the highly contested Matero seat after polling 24,129 votes, while Salubusa came second with 18,614 votes. Salubusa, however, disputed the results, alleging that his votes were swapped in favour of Sakala.
