LUSAKA Mayor-elect Chitambala Mwewa has hit the ground running, with the relocation of street vendors into designated markets emerging as his first major task. In his plan to clean up the city, the move is expected to bring order to some of Lusaka’s busy streets, where vendors have occupied pavements and other public spaces in search of customers and a livelihood. During a tour of City Market, Mwewa addressed street vendors and urged them to cooperate with the planned relocation, saying the move was necessary to restore order and cleanliness in Lusaka.
