ATTORNEY General Mulilo Kabesha says government has rejected the “sweeping and inflammatory characterisation” by civil society organisations (CSOs) that Zambia has descended into lawlessness. Meanwhile, Kabesha says dialogue cannot terminate criminal investigations or confer immunity from the application of the law. On Monday, a consortium of civil society organisations released a statement highlighting various governance issues which they said pointed to “Zambia’s descent into lawlessness”. The CSOs, represented by LCK Freedom Foundation Executive Director Linda Kasonde, condemned what they described as the arbitrary cancellation of passports belonging to six Zambians without due process.
