A WEEK hardly passes in Zambia without reading about cases of defilement. Sometimes it is the unbelievable scenario where a father finds it fit to turn his own biological daughter into a wife. Just this week, a 17-year-old girl of Lusaka’s Linda Township appeared before the Magistrates’ Court to testify against her biological father who has allegedly been molesting her repeatedly since she was only eight years old. The poor child even bore a child from her father. Disturbing and devastating as that is, it normally always ends at media reports.
