A 37-YEAR-OLD pastor has been sentenced to three years imprisonment with hard labour for obtaining money from five people on pretext that he would provide free scholarships to study in Russia. In this matter, David Katuta, of Lusaka’s Libala South was charged with five counts of obtaining money by false pretences, which charges he denied. Particulars of the offence in the first count alleged that Katuta, on unknown dates but in February 2020, with intent to deceive or defraud, obtained K6,540 from Deborah Mwanjeleke by falsely pretending that he would provide free scholarship to study in Russia when in fact not.
