FORMER higher education minister Professor Nkandu Luo has described the nolle prosequi which the DPP yesterday entered in favour of former PF deputy secretary general Mumbi Phiri as kutumpa. And PF vice-president Given Lubinda says it’s a sad day for Zambia’s jurisprudence. Meanwhile, Phiri’s lawyer, Makebi Zulu, says they will challenge the state’s ability to stop a judgement with a nolle. On Wednesday, the Director of Public Prosecutions entered a nolle prosequi in favour of Phiri in a case in which she was jointly charged with former president Edgar Lungu’s barber Shebby Chilekwa for murder.
