THE Law Association of Zambia (LAZ) has backed calls by the Human Rights Commission (HRC) for all offences to be made bailable. On Monday, HRC Spokesperson Mwelwa Muleya said there was need for all offences to be made bailable and bondable, arguing that some people had been detained for years for crimes they never committed. Muleya said the decision as to whether individuals facing such charges should be granted bail or not should be at the courts’ discretion.
