Lusaka Province Minister Bowman Lusambo says he wants to leave a legacy of supporting President Edgar Lungu’s vision.
And Lusambo says he calls President Lungu a great leader because he is doing great things for this country.
Speaking when he featured on ZNBC’s Government Forum, Monday, Lusambo said the people of Zambia made a wise decision to elect President Lungu as their Head of State.
“The people of Zambia made a wise decision by appointing His Excellency Edgar Chagwa Lungu as President of this great country. He is a president with a passion, he is a president with a vision to transform this country…I want to leave a legacy of supporting His Excellency President Edgar Chagwa Lungu’s vision. And his vision is to deliver to the expectations of the people,” Lusambo said.
Asked what made him very passionate about his job, Lusambo said people who loved what they did were not supposed to be forced to work.
“When you want to do something and you believe in yourself, you want to do that particular work with passion. When I was joining politics, there was no one who forced me and I knew that politics is 100 per cent, I am expected to give free service for the people…sometimes people want to get jobs and to be supervised ‘do this, do this’, it doesn’t work like that. As a servant of the people, you need to have a passion and ensure that you deliver to the expectations of the people. And working with a president who is hardworking, His Excellency President Edgar Chagwa Lungu, I think we just have to make sure that we help him to transform this country and we can only help him if we are all committed and we need that commitment from politicians to technocrats,” he said.
And Lusambo explained why he called President Lungu a great leader.
“I want to thank the Zambian people for supporting President Edgar Chagwa Lungu. And I want to urge them to continue supporting him. He is a president who means well for the people of Zambia. He is a president who has come to transform this country and by inviting us as ministers to come and help him to deliver to the expectation of the people, I want to urge you that please support this great man. We call him a great leader because he agrees in doing the great things for this country,” he said.
“There is no one who can lie in this country that there is no development. Development is there for all of us to see. So I want to urge the people of Zambia especially the youths, he is a president who has incorporated a number of young men and women in his administration. When you come to State House when we are having Cabinet, you can see that in that Cabinet, the old people maybe are just four or five, the rest are young men and women in his administration. Its because he wants this country to be transformed and the people who can transform this country with energy are you and me. And I can assure you that this is the right man for the job and we as youths just have to support him, we have to protect his office.”
He reiterated that anyone who insulted President Lungu was an enemy.
“For us we are not going to allow any individual, any individual, mark my word to insult or bring the name of the president into disrepute. That individual will be our number one enemy because he is not worthy to be called a Zambian by insulting this man who is doing so much to transform the living standards of our people,” he said.
Meanwhile, Lusambo condemned “visionless” politicians who wanted to attack government at all times.
“We have seen visionless politicians, those who just want to criticize government at any given time, they just want to attack government. We did elections in 2016 and the people of Zambia gave President Edgar Chagwa Lungu a five year term to administer the affairs of this nation. This time, we are not even supposed to be doing politics. That is why our job is to deliver to the expectations of the people. But other visionless politicians want to start politics by dragging the name of the president and the office of the presidency into disrepute. It’s a thing which we have said ‘no’. outside government and inside government, we want to deliver to the expectations of the people and we want to make sure that the manifesto of the party, people benefit from those policies. And that is exactly what we are doing,” said Lusambo.
