IT is deeply concerning to see the Patriotic Front (PF), including its former leader Edgar Lungu, resort to tribal arguments in defense of their members who have been arrested or convicted for corruption. While their grievances are framed as political persecution, some PF-aligned commentators have gone further, suggesting that the legal actions against their members are regionally targeted; unfairly excluding Southern and Western Provinces. We find this line of reasoning not only divisive but also a deliberate disregard of details leading to the state of affairs.
