A State House police sweeper has died in a motorbike accident along Chirundu road in Chikankata District.

And police in Lusaka are investing the murder of a 37-year-old man who was found dead at the Zesco flyover bridge on July 15.

According to a statement issued by police spokesperson Esther Mwaata Katongo, Simon Fulilwa died on the spot after hitting into a vehicle which was going in the opposite direction, Sunday.

“The accident occurred on 15th July, 2018 at about 1310 hours at mobe area along Chirundu road in Chikankata District. Involved was Fulilwa Simon aged 36 of Libala, Lusaka, a police officer inspector by rank who was riding a motorbike Honda CDR 1000 from south to north who sustained fatal injuries and died on the spot. Also involved was Mulenga Mwila George aged 66 of Zanaco flats who was driving a motor vehicle Toyota Gluger registration number 4414 from north to south with two passengers. The accident happened when the rider hit into the motor vehicle which was moving in the opposite direction. The body is in UTH mortuary awaiting postmortem,” Katongo stated.

And Katongo revealed that police were investigating the murder of a man who was found dead at the Zesco flyover bridge.

“Police in Lusaka have instituted investigations into a case of Murder where a male person identified as Brian Mulenga aged 37 was found dead at ZESCO Flyover Bridge along Great East road by members of the public. The incident is reported to have happened between 14th July 2018 around 20:30hours and 15th July, 2018 at 06:00hours. The body is lying in U.T.H mortuary awaiting postmortem,” she stated.

“In Mkushi, Police have arrested three suspects by the names of Bruce Kalunga aged 24, Kelvin Changwe aged 20 and Elias Mupeta aged 25 in connection with the murder of Kaoma Mbita aged 50 a welder at Cropit farm in Mkushi District. This incident is reported to have happened on 15th July 2018 around 07:00hours at Cropit farms in Mkushi. The victim sustained a broken skull, cut on the right eye and chin as kicks and stones were allegedly used in the act.”
