ACTING Minister of Health Cornelius Mweetwa says the country has recorded 957 cumulative cholera cases and 20 deaths as of Monday, February 23, 2026. Delivering a ministerial statement in the National Assembly, Tuesday, Mweetwa said Lusaka had become the primary focus of transmission, with sporadic cases reported across several sub-districts and health facilities. “Madam Speaker, Zambia has been responding to a cholera outbreak first detected on 5 August 2025 in Mpulungu District of Northern Province. Since then, 20 districts across eight provinces have reported cases. Luapula and Eastern Provinces have remained free of confirmed cholera cases throughout this period.
