GOVERNMENT has flagged off phase one of a solar mini-grid donation from China that will see 49kW solar PV systems with 130kWh battery storage installed at 13 public institutions in Kaumbwe Constituency, Eastern Province. The project is an initiative of the Chinese government, spearheaded by Simba New Materials Technology Company Limited, at a total cost of $350,000. The project is aimed at supporting the country’s agenda of diversifying its energy mix away from dependence on hydropower.
