THE Zambia Police Service has disclosed that over 10,000 cases of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) were recorded countrywide during the first quarter of 2026. In a statement, Saturday, Police Public Relations Officer Godfrey Chilabi explained that of the recorded cases, 6,879 were criminal cases, while 3,352 were non-criminal cases. He added that compared to the 11,177 cases recorded during the corresponding period in 2025, the reported GBV incidents declined by 946 cases, representing an 8.5 percent reduction. “The Zambia Police Service wishes to inform the public that a total of 10,231 cases of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) were recorded countrywide during the first quarter of 2026 covering the period from 1 January to 31 March 2026.
