POLICE say they do not always ask victims to serve call-outs on suspects in gender-based violence (GBV) cases or other violent offences. Police Public Relations Officer Godfrey Chilabi says there are no inadequacies in the legislation, as there are protection mechanism protocols to guide officers when dealing with GBV victims. On Wednesday, the Law Association of Zambia (LAZ) said police should discontinue any practice requiring victims to serve police call-outs, notices or summons on suspects in cases involving GBV or other violent offences.
