THE Food Reserve Agency (FRA) has signed a contract with Kenya’s Baita Trading Company Limited for the export of 540,000 metric tonnes of maize. Deputy Secretary to Cabinet for Finance and Economic Development Siazongo Siakalenge says the 540,000-metric-tonne maize export contract will be executed in six batches, with 100,000 metric tonnes being shipped every three months, while the final batch will comprise 40,000 metric tonnes. In a statement, Wednesday, Siakalenge challenged the business community and traders to take advantage of the opportunities arising from the surplus maize production by identifying export markets.
