AMNESTY International says the arbitrary cancellation of passports is a violation of international human rights law. The organisation has since called on government to restore the passports of Emmanuel Mwamba, Emmanuel Jay Banda, Binwell Mpundu and three others. Meanwhile, Chapter One Foundation (COF) has challenged government to demonstrate the legal grounds on which the passport cancellations for the six individuals were made. On Friday, government revoked passports for Emmanuel Mwamba, Emmanuel Jay Banda and Binwell Mpundu, citing security reasons and national security concerns.
