THE Chinese Embassy in Zambia has rejected a Transparency International Zambia (TIZ) report which raised governance and corruption concerns around Chinese mining investments, describing its findings as biased and misleading. The Embassy says Chinese mining companies contributed over K10 billion in taxes, supported 45,417 jobs and purchased more than K50 billion worth of local supplies in 2025 alone, arguing that their contribution to Zambia’s economy speaks for itself. Earlier, TIZ said its report identified political interference and regulatory capture as governance and corruption risks associated with Chinese mining operations.
