THE Energy Regulation Board (ERB) has warned of sanctions against Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) planning to induce an artificial fuel shortage, saying they are mandated to conform to their license conditions. Ministry of Information Media Director and Spokesperson Thabo Kawana recently revealed that government was aware of a scheme by OMCs to create an artificial fuel shortage. Reacting to the revelations, Oil Marketing Companies Association of Zambia president Kafula Mubanga admitted, in an interview, that there was indeed a scheme by some OMCs to create an artificial fuel shortage in the country.
