BANK of Zambia (BOZ) Governor Dr Denny Kalyalya says the Central Bank’s Monetary Policy Committee has decided to increase the Monetary Policy Rate from 9% to 9.25%. And Dr Kalyalya says delayed debt restructuring talks are contributing to the depreciation of the Kwacha. Announcing the Monetary Policy Rate, Wednesday, Dr Kalyalya said substantive changes to the environment such as pressures observed in the foreign exchange market prompted the committee to increase the MPR. “At its meeting held as indicated yesterday and Monday, the Monetary Policy Committee decided to increase the policy rate by 25 basis points.
