ECONOMIST Professor Oliver Saasa says government should open up about the challenges faced in the negotiation process with Vedanta so that solutions are quickly found for KCM. In an interview, recently, Prof Saasa said there was a need for mines in the country to be recapitalised. He said Zambia was missing out on good business that the global market was able to offer because of the current state of some mines. “Let’s not take long with what’s happening in the mining sector. If there is a problem with Vedanta to have them agree with KCM, it has to be resolved immediately because the longer it takes the worse the situation gets because we are not catching on the good price...
