FORMER home affairs minister Stephen Kampyongo has presented his defence at the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court, revealing that he spent K30,000 on the Twin Palm property, which the State appraised at K1.6 million. He disclosed that the land was offered to him by the State through the Commissioner of Lands. Kampyongo and his wife, Wanziya Chirwa, face 12 counts of possessing property suspected of being proceeds of crime. The charges include the possession of incomplete dwellings, undeveloped lands, and housing units across Lusaka, with values ranging from K805,000 to K8.6 million.
