Zesco United striker Jesse Were is set to miss Tuesday’s league date against Lumwana Radiants due to injury.
The Kenyan international is Zesco’s top scorer with 11 league goals and second behind Chris Mugalu of Lusaka Dynamos.

Were sustained a knee injury in South Africa on September 15 in Zesco’s 0-0 away draw against SuperSport United in a 2017 CAF Confederation Cup first leg, quarterfinal game at Lucas Moripe Stadium in Pretoria.

Zesco media officer Chengo Katebe could not say if Were will be fit in time for this Saturday’s final leg decider against SuperSport at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.

Also out for Tuesday’s date is midfielder Kondwani Mtonga who lost his father on Friday while away on Confederation Cup duty.

Meanwhile, a win for Zesco against 10th placed Lumwana will lift them from 6th to 3rd on 49 points and within one and four points of 2nd placed Zanaco and leaders Green Buffaloes respectively.

Zesco are chasing their first competitive win since August 20 when they beat Napsa Stars 2-1 at Levy.

Since then, the 2016 runners-up have collected three scoreless draws and a 3-2 away loss at defending champions Zanaco on September 9 in Lusaka.
