THE Zambia Rugby Union (ZRU) has restricted the number of players each club should register per season to 35.

ZRU general secretary Francis Chitambo said in an interview yesterday that the union will only allow each club to register 35 players in a season.

He said the union resolved to have transfer window from November monthend to February monthend with the second window to run from June 1 to 30.

“The maximum number of players a team will be allowed to register is 35, not beyond,” he said.

Chitambo said some clubs have more than 70 players and that the union will not allow any club to register more than 35 unless they have more than two teams.

He said the limitation of player registration will compel clubs like Red Arrows to have two teams.

And ZRU has procured kit for five clubs in the national league.

Chitambo named the five beneficiaries of the kit as Ndola Wanderers, Roan, Konkola, Chibuluma and Nchanga.

He said the kit will be distributed to the teams this monthend as the union plans to unveil a new kit for the Seven’s squad.
