THE Zambia Premier League (ZPL) has suspended ZESCO United Football Club from the MTN Super League with immediate effect after taking a football-related dispute to the ordinary courts, in a move league authorities say breached established regulations and governance principles. In a letter addressed to the club’s chief executive officer in Ndola, ZPL CEO Joseph Chimpampwe confirmed that the league had taken the drastic decision following receipt of a court summons linked to the club’s ongoing appeal matter. “We write to formally inform you that the Football Association has received a court summons concerning the ongoing matter involving your club’s appeal,” Chimpampwe said in the letter.
