MPALI creator Frank Sibbuku says out of the eight seasons of Mpali, season three was the most powerful because the audience response was overwhelmingly positive. He says the storyline felt so real that when Nguzu mistreated his third wife Monde on screen, people reacted in real life, even throwing tomatoes at him at the market. Sibbuku says the past two seasons have focused on pushing characters beyond their comfort zones and exploring new story worlds, such as moving Lindiwe away from the Mpali family to another family, in order to introduce fresh dynamics, that are working very well.
