Police nab Mansa couple for theft of drugs

Police in Mansa have arrested a 34-year-old man and his wife for allegedly stealing 12 boxes of medicines from Mansa District Health Office valued at K29,376.

Police spokesperson Esther Mwaata Katongo confirmed the development in a statement availed to News Diggers, Tuesday.

Katongo said Evans Chibwe a driver at Mansa District Health Office and his wife Kasamwa Kasamwa aged 27 of Chipushi Village, Chief Kalasalukangaba of Mansa District were arrested 13th May, 2018 around 20:30 hours

She said the suspects were arrested as they were leaving the crime scene after Police intercepted their motor vehicle Nissan Serena registration number BAB 7208 and recovered 12 boxes of Coartem tablets valued at K29,376.00.

Katongo said the driver had been charged with Theft by Public Servant while his wife is charged with Theft and that both would appear in court soon.

Katongo, however, said the guard on duty, Keterson Kaonga; who connived with the couple, was on the run and that police had since launched a manhunt.
