The Ministry of Home Affairs has set June 31st, 2018 as the deadline for all clubs, religious groups, community service societies, associations, political parties and pressure groups that have been defaulting on remittance of annual returns to update their registration.

Ministry Public Relations Officer Nephas Chifuta advised in a statement, Wednesday, that failure by any of the Societies to pay the K100 amnesty fee within the stipulated period may attract penalties, such as deregistration of the organisation.

“The Registrar of Societies wishes to urge all the Societies namely: Women/Youth clubs,Cultural groups,Civic/ Pressure groups, Associations,Community Service Societies,Political Parties,Churches,Ministries, and other Religious Organisations that the deadline for the Amnesty which was given by the Honourable Minister of Home Affairs, Mr Stephen Kampyongo (MP) on February 13, 2018, to allow inactive Societies to normalise their registration has been extended to July 31, 2018,” stated Chifuta.

“Societies are requested to pay K100.00 for each of the years they have been in default, which will facilitate for them to be captured on to the Societies Registration System (SRS). Defaulting Societies that fail to comply within the stipulated period risk being deregistered.
