AUDITOR General Dr Dick Sichembe says existence of effective public oversight institutions becomes vital to the development of society when public resources are mismanaged through corruption. And Dr Sichembe says very little can be achieved in scrutinising public resources without the help of CSOs. Speaking during the Office of the Auditor General and Civil Society Organisations sensitisation workshop, Thursday, Dr Sichembe said preventing and detecting mismanagement of public resources resulted in saving resources which could be channeled to social sectors and other needy areas. “Matters of transparency, accountability and prudent management of public resources are vital to the development of any society world over.
