THE Ministry of Health says the Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency (ZAMMSA) has initiated bulk procurements with short lead times to address the stock imbalances for medicines and medical supplies in the country. Speaking at a briefing, Friday, Acting Health Minister Mulambo Haimbe said the procurement, through UNICEF, was valued at US$13.8 million, while the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) procurement was valued at US$9.4 million. “ZAMMSA has initiated bulk procurements with short lead times through the Unified Procurement Authority (UPA) of Egypt and the United Nations Agencies like United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) to address the stock imbalances in the medicines and medical supplies in the country.
