HEALTH Minister Sylvia Masebo has disclosed that there are currently over 6,000 and 1,000 sickle cell patients at the University Teaching Hospital and Arthur Davison Hospital on the Copperbelt respectively. And Masebo has noted that people living with sickle cell are often misunderstood as being lazy at their places of work. Meanwhile, Zambia Sickle cell disease task force chairperson Dr Chunda Liyoka says there is need for citizens, especially young people in relationships, to know their sickle cell status.
