THE Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) has disputed assertions that the summoning of Lusaka Archbishop Alick Banda is politically motivated, explaining that the investigation has been running for some time regarding an illegally obtained Toyota Hilux. Meanwhile, the Commission is urging Archbishop Banda to avoid being accompanied by “irrelevant people” when he appears for questioning on Monday. Archbishop Banda’s summons relates to a concluded court case, in which the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court sentenced former ZRA Commissioner General Kingsley Chanda to six years imprisonment for wilful failure to comply with procedures regarding the disposal of 22 used motor vehicles and abuse of authority.
