MoE attributes 70% G12 pass rate to free education policy

THE Ministry of Education has attributed the high Grade 12 pass rate to the free education policy. Ministry of Education Principal Public Relations Officer Clive Kalunga says the 70 per cent pass rate demonstrates the commitment government has placed on education through the free education policy. And ZANEC Executive Director George Hamusunga has welcomed the improved performance, arguing that the results prove that the free education policy has not negatively impacted academic standards. On Tuesday, Education Minister Douglas Syakalima announced that out of 194,069 candidates who sat for the 2025 Grade 12 examinations, 136,357 obtained school certificates, representing a pass rate of 70.26 per cent.
