WE must mitigate and eliminate premature road failures and wash-aways, which have recently been a point of concern, says National Road Fund Agency Director and Chief Executive Officer Daniel Mtonga. On Saturday, Copperbelt Province Minister Elisha Matambo expressed disappointment with the poor quality of the newly constructed Ndola-Sakania-Mufulira Road, which is being constructed under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP). Matambo directed the contractor to redo some sections of the road that had been patched, warning that the current quality of the road would not stand the test of time. In a related development, the Kakoso culvert along the Chingola-Kasumbalesa Road, about 15 kilometres from Chingola, was recently washed away following heavy rains and strong winds.
