THE Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) says six mayoral, seven parliamentary and 176 local government candidates have gone unopposed in the 2026 general election. ECZ says the volume of printed ballot papers will therefore be reduced by the number of unopposed seats recorded. Further, the Commission says 30.18 million of the 36.47 million ballot papers required for the August 13 polls, representing 86 percent, have been printed. Meanwhile, ECZ Commissioner Ambassador Ndiyoi Mutiti has joined Commissioner McDonald Chipenzi and other observers in Dubai to monitor the ballot paper printing exercise.
