CATHOLIC faithful and priests braved the sun outside Lusaka Central Prison, commonly known as Chimbokaila, yesterday as they waited for the release of Lusaka Archbishop Alick Banda, who had remained detained despite being granted bail on Monday. From Monday evening into Tuesday, sympathisers gathered outside the prison as Archbishop Banda remained behind bars following delays in fulfilling the bail conditions set by the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court. The Lusaka Magistrates’ Court had granted Archbishop Banda K80,000 bail in his own recognisance, with three working sureties each bound at K50,000.
