STREET vendors were yesterday seen trading along major roads such as Cairo Road, Lumumba Road and Freedom Way, despite the deadline for them to vacate the Central Business District. However, along Simon Mwewa Lane, no vendors were seen, while booths that were in front of the council toilet had been removed. Recently, the Lusaka City Council announced that September 29 would be the last day for street vendors to operate from the streets. On Tuesday, business came to a standstill along Simon Mwewa Road in Lusaka after street vendors, some dressed in UPND regalia, staged a protest against their planned eviction from the streets.
