PEOPLE, especially members of the Patriotic Front, have been raising concerns around the government’s decision to award a contract to a private company called Grant Thornton to audit security wings, or rather the Ministry of Defence. Others are pointing accusing fingers at President Hakainde Hichilema for “trying to divert public resources to a company in which he has direct personal interest”. There are further claims that Grant Thornton was single sourced and awarded this contract. All these allegations were brought on the floor of the House when Minister of Finance Dr Situmbeko Musokotwane gave a ministerial statement at the behest of the Speaker of the National Assembly.
