GOVERNMENT says Zambia’s nuclear ambitions require strong safety systems and public awareness as the country embarks on a nuclear power programme. Speaking during a courtesy call by the Radiation Protection Authority, Monday, Ministry of Information and Media Permanent Secretary, Thabo Kawana noted that nuclear science and technology was a key enabler in the country’s framework for energy diversification and social economic transformation. This is true and the consideration is long overdue. We have spoken enough as a country about the need for safety strategies when embarking on nuclear energy.
