BIBLE Society of Zambia has dragged its sales assistant to court for allegedly stealing 2,500 Bibles and other items belonging to the organisation, all valued at K367,318.
In this matter, William Ngwenya, 22, of Lusaka’s John Laing township is charged with one count of theft by servant.
It is alleged that between March 29 and July 15, 2021 in Lusaka, Ngwenya while being employed as a Sales Assistant by Bible Society of Zambia stole 2,500 Bibles, branded packaging bags, four bible covers, three stationery and two children literature books all valued at K367, 318, the property of the said employer.
However, when the matter came up for plea before magistrate Dominic Makalicha, recently, Ngwenya denied committing the offence.
The matter has since been adjourned to next month for trial.
In a related matter, Kafue Sugar Company has dragged its employee to court for allegedly stealing a 25 Kg bag of fertiliser valued at K750.
It is alleged that on December 25, 2021, Liama Londo, 44, of Lusaka’s Nampundwe area, being employed by Kafue sugar company as a general worker stole 25 kilogram bags of fertilizer valued at K750, the property of his employer.
The matter was also adjourned to a later date.
