Mumamba Numba has named 10 Under-17 players to his final 20-member team that will defend its 2017 COSAFA U20 Cup title at home in December.
Numba, who has been promoted from U17 to U20 head coach, dropped two out of the 12 players who won the2017 COSAFA U17 Cup under him last July in Mauritius.
The dropped payers are striker Christopher Phiri and midfielder John Mulalangabo.
The COSAFA U17 winners in the new Zambia U20 are midfielders Clinton Lubula, Prince Mumba, Muma Mumba and Niza Simutenda.
Striker’s Martin Njobvu and Lameck Banda of Nkwazi including defenders Kingsley Hakwiya, Victor Kasokolo, Jonathan Kapelembe and Andrew Phiri are the others promoted to the Zambia Under-20 team.
Meanwhile, Numba’s predecessor Beston Chambeshi and his 2016 COSAFA U20 and 2017 U20 AFCON winning team have been elevated to the Zambia U23 team.
Zambia is in Group A where they will play Swaziland, Uganda and Malawi at the tournament that will run from December 6-16 in Kitwe and Ndola.
The defending champions will kick off their campaign on December 6 against Uganda at Nkana Stadium in Kitwe.
Nkana and Arthur Davies Stadium’s in Kitwe will host all the group games and semifinals.
The final and 3rd and 4th playoff will be staged at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola on December 16.
